Flu Vaccine is available by appointment and they are currently being administered at all well child visits.
Remember that if you're in the office for another reason, we're happy to give your child a flu vaccine, as well (just let us know in advance, please, if you can).

If your child is due for a vaccine, it is normally given at the time of a well child visit. When the timing of vaccines differs from planned visits, please call to schedule an appointment.

It’s flu season vaccination time again! With the added layer of Covid-19, the need for protection against flu is greater than ever.
The flu vaccine has now arrived! We are able to offer the injectable version, as well as a limited amount of the live nasal type of influenza vaccine. Contact us if you have questions as to which one your child should receive.
The injectable flu vaccine is quadrivalent (protects against FOUR strains of the flu). It is all thimerosal free and latex free.
We also have the quadrivalent live – virus, nasal vaccine available for healthy children. Typically, “healthy” means that your child does not have asthma, serious heart disease, diabetes, or any problem that suppresses the immune system. Contact us if you have any questions about your child’s situation.
If your child needs other vaccines, they may be safely given with the flu vaccine, including the Covid-19 vaccine. Flu vaccine is recommended for all children 6 months of age or older.
For flu vaccines, your child should be well – although it is safe for a mildly ill child to receive the flu vaccine, we are continuing to try to safeguard the health of our families and ask that you re-schedule your appointment if your child becomes ill. Any vaccine may produce some fever or soreness at the sight of injection, but generally reactions are minor.
If your child is under the age of 9 and has never received the flu vaccine or has not received greater than or equal to two total doses of the influenza vaccine before 7/1/23, then two doses will be recommended this year (at least 4 weeks apart). We will let you know after the first vaccine if you aren’t sure.
If you prefer to obtain the flu vaccine somewhere else, make sure that it is an appropriate vaccine for the age of your child (there are differences). If possible, we would like a copy of the vaccine they receive so that we can keep your child’s vaccine record up to date (feel free to email or fax it to us).

Vaccine appointments are made based on promised supplies from the pharmaceutical companies. We apologize id we must cancel or reschedule because the vaccine is not available.
The optimal time to vaccinate for Influenza is as soon as the vaccine is available, usually in the fall. We will administer the vaccine to children who are eligible as they come in for physicals.
Seasonal Influenza can occur beginning in November and continue through May. In general, Seasonal Influenza peaks in January or February.
In light if the above information: We will have open Flu appointments with the disclaimer “as long as the vaccine is available.” Please remember we do not anticipate a shortage or problem with distribution of the Flu Vaccine this season, however: WE DO NOT HAVE CONTOL OVER THE SUPPLY AVAILABILITY or THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE VACCINE.
